Ken Livingstone, the mayor of London has announced a new raid on the pockets of Londoners and those who work there.
In another sneaky move he has decided to impose new rates of congestion charge for those in 4×4′s, sports cars and other vehicles that he doesn’t like. This from someone who spends thousands of pounds of tax payers money on taxis and other transport each year.
The £25 charge will apply to vehicles emitting more than 225 grams of CO2/km (g/km), as well as those registered before March 2001 which have engines larger than 3,000cc
Those vehicles getting a 100% discount will emit less than 120g/km.
Of cars currently being driven in the congestion charging zone, 17% would be liable for the £25 charge and just 2% for the total discount
Livingstone has claimed that this is to help reduce emissions, but as we all know this is the same person who said that the congestion charge was a good idea (having blocked off many roads and desynchronized all the traffic lights to prove his point), it is really just about taxing the hard working public while he manages an office full of less than honest people.
It is high time that London push him under one his “bendy busses” .
To help avoid the congestion charge you can use the car park at Marble Arch or on the bounrdy road at Euston Station. These are outside the zone, allow you to drive into the city, park, complete your business and stick two fingers up at communist Ken.
