Congratulations to the Cookham Dean U11’s cricket team on reaching the Berkshire County Championship final. (to be played on Sep 6th.
The team were able to field first having lost the toss and they wasted no time getting stuck into the bowling. Theo took his first wicket in the first over giving away no runs. What a dream start.
The bowling continued to be effective and some first class fielding saw the visitors held to 63 runs all out in 12 over’s.
Cookham Dean went to bat and managed to reach 60 runs for 4 wickets with on retired on 25. With only 4 runs to get it would appear that this would be a formality, however the boys contrived to loose 4 wickets in one over and a further wicket before we managed to score the 4 runs needed.
For the parents this was a nail biting experience, while the boys found the whole think quite “scary”.
My interest in this is I am the assistant coach to the team and Zach plays for them as well. I am tremendously proud of their achievements and look forward to watching them win on September 6th.
