From my office window I could see a Air Force rescue helicopter  fly low over the fields near the River Thames, I rushed out to find out why and discovered that there was a river rescue in process.  A large river boat had caught fire and a number of its occupants had ended up in the river.  The helicopter was being used to pull them to safety.

On closer inspection there were other things going on, lots of rescue vehicles and fire and rescue equipment, but not much blood and guts.  Turns out that it was a training exercise for the combined rescue services, nevertheless rather exciting….
