You can never burn out if you’ve never been lit up! So let’s light up and go! What does “Fired Up” look like?
Business experts and writers for Entrepreneur Magazine, Paul & Sarah Edwards have studied 107 Successful home-based entrepreneurs since 1989. While these 107 successful entrepreneurs were in different fields and came from all parts of the country and vary widely in age, background and experience, they all had one thing in common. They all had specific, tightly focused goals! That single-minded focus was the primary reason for their success!
People who are lukewarm about, or dabble with their business, have never been able to compete successfully with people who are committed and have fire in their belly for success. You see, it is not possible for your business to take off and grow on its own. It needs to be primed, worked and nurtured over time if you are to succeed. Consider the following: what if fate had sentenced you to pursue your business (only on a part-time basis) for 2 years with no option of quitting before then; and that your entire future income for the rest of your life, per month, could never exceed the monthly check you received from your business in the 24th month? Consider now that you are actually confronted with this as a reality. How would you work your business over the next weeks and months right up through the 24th month?
The answer you give to this imagined scenario will be very self-revealing.
Let’s play with the possibilities. Chances are almost 100% that if this scenario were true, that you would work your buns off to get that month 24 check to the highest level possible. Well, guess what is implied here? It means you could succeed if you worked hard enough and with single-minded focus for the next 24 months. On the other hand, being forced with the same scenario, you decided to work the business in a casual unorganized manner, would you not face a certain disastrous financial future when the 24th month passed? The answer is clearly obvious! You’d be financially devastated for life!
The people who cross the financial independence finish line somehow do whatever it takes to keep their own internal fire burning, which in turn provides the steam that propels them through the dry seasons of labor, setbacks and disappointments which are inherent in every journey to success. Here’s how! They feed on positive inspirational stimulation’s be they from cassette tapes, videos, books or other positive people; and they avoid like the plague the nay-sayers and saboteurs of their success. Let’s face it! IIf you fail in it won’t be because what you were required to do you couldn’t do . . . . . . . It will only be because you could have but you didn’t! The failures in our type of business are spawned in a caldron of excuses and projections where the focus shifts from possibilities, to problems to overcome and people to blame. That’s not to minimize or make light of authentic glitches or problems we all encounter as we build our business. No. Legitimate concerns need to be addressed and should be eliminated by corrective action or improved within a reasonable time period.
What you need to guard against, however, is the fact that your own personal shift in mental and physical focus can quickly become the primary reason for your lack of business growth and not the problems themselves.
Have you ever noticed that some people are able to grow their business while including the problems to be sorted? The difference is their faith and belief that the problems will be sorted and the business will become a huge success.
Have you also noticed that the people who focus their attention predominately on the problems seldom succeed in the business even when the problems are solved? Some say they can’t recruit while the problems exist; and then they don’t recruit once the problems are removed. Come on now, let’s get real here!!
Can you possibly imagine Ford Motor Company, IBM or Microsoft and countless other huge companies arriving at the pinnacles of success they’ve enjoyed without problems, competition and obstacles to endure, struggle through and eventually overcome? Their will to win, their ability to endure is exactly why they are successful. The same goes for us!
Let’s look at professional sports for a vivid example. All pro athletic teams have one goal in mind and it is to win! Each sport uses preseason training camps as a screening mechanism. The training is rigorous because it’s primary goal is to eliminate the weak players so that the one’s who endure measure up and are best suited to face the rigors of the upcoming season of competition. In life, whenever we see excellence, be it in business, sports, or science, we see people who endured and overcame many obstacles before they were crowned. What’s really different about these people? Andrew Carniege probably said it best when asked to provide the reasons for his huge business success. He said, “It’s faith; faith in myself, faith in my company and faith in my associates!”
So here’s the lesson! If you combine specific, tightly focused goals with lots of honest and sustained work and then filter both through genuine unwavering faith, you have brewed the guaranteed and age old recipe for success.
So start mixing your own success brew now and I’ll meet you on stage as a successful network marketer and we’ll both know how we got there!
If you talk to the winners in life, their stories of how each got there are homogenous. And if you talk to the failures in life, their stories and excuses for failure are also homogenous.
And, as always, the choice is uniquely yours!
