There seems to be a move by some governments to restrict the export of food produce.  The idea is to help the consumer by ensuring that there is enough supply and therefore keep the price in check.

But I am sure that economists will warn that such a move will risk exacerbating the global food prices, which are being pushed higher by rising demand from emerging markets and pressure from the increasing production of bio-fuels.

Time will tell, but lets hope that sense prevails and we do not see a slide into full scale protectionism.
