How can this be?

August 20th, 2009 · No Comments

Having bought a gazebo to cover the go-kart to ensure that it would stay dry, I was dismayed to have it blown over today and in the process the legs bent and it is now not usable.

Before throwing it away I realised that the components were worth salvaging as they can be used in the other go-kart that I am about to build.  But it made me wonder just how a product can be made , shipped and sold for so little, while the components are worth considerably more than the price that I paid.

The gazebo cost £38 from Halfords and the screws, bolts and washers along with the metal would cost twice that if I wanted to purchase them at the local DIY store.

Subsequently I have now painted the kart with gloss paint and will be using the bits of the gazebo for the second kart.  Works out nicely after all!
