Outsourcing

March 7th, 2007 · 1 Comment

I have been seeking a great place to get web work done, to help save my time and effort. ( There are only so many hours in the day to get all the work done and fulfil the clients demands.)

In turning to outsourcing for web work, elance.com was one place to look.  The site let me post my requirement and get quotes for the work.

I have to say that it does not instill a great deal of  confidence that the work will be done when you receive quotes for $10 for a job that will take days…  I also experienced the language / cultural barriers when trying to explain what I wanted done and the fact that there was a limit to my budget.

While I did manage to get the work done, it was completed but I was not 100% satisfied.  The end result is that I have returned from this experience with a desire to have a service that I can rely upon. I want to be able to have my work completed the way I want and for the price agreed.

I have decided to set something up to provide a “webmaster” service that will ensure that I get the results that I need and I can provide the support for my clients that they deserve. itsmywebmaster.

My friend/partner (friend really but we work together so you can call him a partner) used ODesk and found a guy from the Ukraine that has been doing some development work for us. He doesn’t speak as well as he hears English but, he gets a lot more work done than we have the time for, that’s for sure.
