Taken from notes written by Mary Mather (mum)
When Christopher (dad) came to see me we realised that we hadn’t chosen a name and that the birth must be registered before Chris went South to London in a couple of days. So there, in the ward, we decided that it should be Michael because of the Archangel, who fought the devil and also because it had been the name given to the eldest son of the eldest son of Christopher’s grandfather.
Michael’s second name was to be John as that was Christopher’s own first name.
